JRV Technologies in Marshfield, Missouri, is a family owned and managed manufacturing company specializing in precision CNC machining, milling, tooling and other miscellaneous metal fabrication.  For years, they’ve served this local farming community and beyond with custom parts and components, including making some items for the oil field industry.  But more recently, they’ve seen a growing opportunity serving the petroleum production market with components that require higher tolerances and tighter specifications.

Edmonds Dental Prosthetics, Inc. is the largest dental laboratory in southwest Missouri, employing 100 people in a high-tech work environment and producing crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and orthodontic devices for dentists and orthodontists in Arkansas and Oklahoma as well as Missouri.

DIT-MCO International was founded in 1948 as Drive-In Theater Manufacturing Company to make equipment for drive-in theaters. As that market diminished, DIT-MCO reinvented itself and has evolved into a nationally recognized leader in the design and manufacture of high voltage electronic testing equipment and complex wiring harnesses for the aerospace industry.

PlayPower LT Farmington, Inc. is a good example of a medium sized manufacturer that has enjoyed great success in using Six Sigma tools and techniques to reduce variation and improve quality and profitability.

PlayPower LT Farmington, Inc. began operations as Iron Mountain Forge in 1979 and has grown into one of the nation’s leading designers and manufacturers of indoor and outdoor commercial playground equipment.

K & S Wire Products, Inc. manufactures CNC wire forms, grills, grates, display units and custom products for a variety of industries.

The company is extremely well managed, but since it is essentially a contract manufacturer, making parts used in many products, intense overseas competition began to take a toll on sales and profits in the last several years.

MSW Incorporated is a nationally recognized manufacturer of restaurant furnishings with offices and a manufacturing facility near Joplin. The company was founded in 1959 by Ray McCoy and has grown from one man in a garage to a company that today employs about 90 people in a 75,000 square foot facility.

Mediomics, LLC in St. Louis is a leading innovator and provider of assay kits and biosensors for the medical field.  Their patented technology allows for the quick detection of biomolecules, which will revolutionize the ability of medical facilities and physician’s offices to do onsite testing for their patients faster and more cost effectively.  These quick and simple test kits are used to quantify many biologically and therapeutically important macromolecules, including DNA, biomarkers, hormones, antibodies, intracellular signaling molecules, protein-protein complexes, cell receptors, bacteria, fungi and viruses.  In simplest terms, Mediomics’ technologies can do a wide variety of common medical tests faster and cheaper than conventional testing methods.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s) are the most prevalent human infection with about 100 million tests per year worldwide, and costs of over $3 billion.  Nearly two-thirds of all microbiological samples processed in hospital microbiology labs are urine specimens being tested for bacteria, a process that requires highly skilled technicians, and can take several days to obtain results. UTIs from urinary catheters are also a common and expensive hospital-acquired infection, and healthcare providers are actively looking for cost-effective ways to detect and treat these infections early before they complicate patient care.

Bard’s Tale Beer Company in Lees Summit, Missouri is the maker of one of the nation’s very first gluten-free beer.  The company’s owners, Craig Belser and Kevin Seplowitz, both suffer from Celiac disease, an intolerance to gluten, and years ago they realized there were no truly gluten-free beers on the market.  Wheat, barley, rye and other common ingredients in beer all contain glutens, so beer was unavailable to people suffering from celiacs.

Ciona Technologies, a subsidiary of SRC (Springfield Remanufacturing Company), produces a full line of ruggedized remanufactured electronic products including Engine Control Units (ECU’s), turbo charger actuators, in-cab displays, GPS Receivers, sensory equipment and various controllers including hydraulic, transmission, chassis,  3-Point  controllers.  Their strengths include current product improvements, design upgrades and industry leading quality.  Ciona serves OEM partners in the global markets of Agriculture, Construction/Forestry, On- and Off-Road Commercial Vehicles and Industrial Power Systems.

Since 1907, the Sugar Creek Missouri Cement Plant, (formerly Missouri Portland, then Lafarge, and now Central Plains Cement Company) has provided Portland cement to customers in the Midwest.  The company operates two cement manufacturing plants and five cement terminals, with a combined production capacity of over 1.7 million tons of cement annually.  Central Plains Cement has always been dedicated to quality, constantly working towards cleaner and more sustainable operations. Since the 1970’s Pierce Seeds, Inc. in Caruthersville, Missouri has been in the business of cleaning and processing seeds for replanting, focused primarily on soybeans.  Business was good, but the company’s owners were looking for new opportunities to grow their business.  They needed to think innovatively, assessing ways to use existing, underutilized equipment when possible, and evaluating possible capital equipment upgrades.  They saw an opportunity in rice processing, knocking off husks, blending light stain and regular rice, then cleaning and milling it to a grade suitable for animal consumption, but they didn’t know exactly where to begin.

Brunson Instrument Company, Kansas City, is one of a very few American companies that specializes in industrial measurement. The 81-year old company helps solve measurement problems for manufacturers of large machines, including aircraft, paper mills, satellites, ships, machine tools and particle accelerators.

American Products designs and manufacturers indoor and outdoor enclosure products for a variety of industries, including telecommunication and fiber optics.  They offer customers complete solutions, from concept design and engineering, to prototyping, production and distribution.  Product lines include telecommunication shelters, telecom enclosures and modular cabinet systems.  The company produces its own line of specialized products, and does contract manufacturing to customer specifications.
